Concert at Westonzoyland Church  - Saturday, 17 April 2010

We were delighted to see the Church fairly packed for the concert at Westonzoyland in aid of funds for a new Church roof.

Different members of the band introduced their particular musical sections and told the audience a bit about the instruments before introducing the next piece.

Anne Sealey and Graham Walker gave another humorous performance of the duet from Don Giovanni, and the audience clearly appreciated the theatrics.

And talking of theatrics, the power went off during “Round the Capstan” at the beginning of the finale, which sent everyone into a flurry trying to find torches and candles to enable us to carry on. Then, to tease us, the lights came on again for a few seconds before we were plunged into darkness again. And just as we were becoming resigned to calling an end to the performance the lights came back on, which was just as well because the audience would have missed some of the best pieces of the night - the Abba medley and the final foot-tapping, hand-clapping Hootenanny - favourites with both the band and the audience.
