Thank you to everyone for an outstanding performance at Thorney Lakes Proms - we received fantastic applause from the audience and several people remarked on how brilliant we were and how much they enjoyed it. Apparently the event raised about £1,600 - £800 for each of the two charities and people are already making plans to attend next year’s event.

Thorney Lakes Proms held on Saturday, 14 August

A big thank you to everyone who took part in the Muchelney Church Fete on Monday, 30 August at The White House in Muchelney. To everyone’s surprise it was a beautiful summer’s afternoon and the event was packed. We were delighted to have Adam Shepperd-Greatbatch playing with us on 2nd cornet and Jordan did a brilliant job on the drums.  Once again, the band gave an excellent performance.

To ensure that we continue to look as smart and ‘uniform’ as possible, would all ladies please remember that our uniform code is either black trousers and black socks or, if you wish to wear a skirt, please wear black tights (or stockings) - but no bare legs or flesh-coloured tights please.  For all band members - ties should be fastened properly at the neck and not worn loose; all shirts and blouses should be work tucked into trousers and skirts please. The uniform code can be found by clicking here.

Congratulations to Les Male!

Thank you to everyone who came along to play at the Somerton Arts Festival on 11 July. It was unfortunate that our ‘slot’ was delayed by an hour, but we did get to listen to an excellent folk band from Scotland while we were waiting. Photos coming soon.

Thank you also to everyone who took part in the concert at Kingsbury Methodist Church on Friday, 9 July - it was an excellent turnout and we did ourselves proud. Photos

A date for your diary - our Christmas Social will be held on Saturday, 11 December at Hambridge Village Hall, commencing at 7.30 pm. This year, as well as a delicious hot/cold buffet and a fantastic raffle, we will be trying something different and, during part of the evening, we will be staging “Kingsbury Band’s Got Talent!” There is absolutely no pressure on anyone to take part but we really would like about 12 acts to compete - you can do absolutely anything at all apart from play whatever instrument you already play in the band. You can dance, sing, do somersaults, mime, act, do magic - in fact, anything you like. And it doesn’t need to be serious and it can be a group act if you prefer. We would also love members of your families to enter. Anyone not wanting to enter an act is automatically a member of the judging audience. We will also have a Simon Cowell/Piers Morgan/Amanda Holden-type panel making comments after each act. So, please get thinking, planning and rehearsing and let Sylvia know if you would like to enter. It’s going to be a lot of fun, so please join in to make it a success.

Christmas Social - Saturday, 11 December

Any voluntary donations from members to help toward the running costs of the band would be most welcome, however small. A weekly donation of, say, 50p has been suggested in the past but we would like to stress that this is entirely voluntary and there are no records kept of individual member contributions. If you do not wish, or cannot afford, to make any contributions then that is absolutely fine and will not affect your membership of the band in any way.

Voluntary Member Donations

Congratulations to Les Male who joined Kingsbury band on VE Day and has been playing with the band for an astonishing 65 years! We would all like to thank Les for his commitment, determination and hard work over the last 65 years and we sincerely hope that you will continue playing with the band for many years to come, Les.
